Atlanta has its fair share of underground parties, largely driven by the promotional groups whose regular night club events draw crowds from the goths to the hip hop heads to the late-night ravers.

To keep your thumb on this pulse, we've got the top picks for underground parties this weekend:

Glamour Thursdays

9 tonight
Medusa

3375 Buford Hwy #1170, Atlanta, GA 30329

To kick off the weekend, Glamour Thursdays is inviting you to get your all black everything, press it up and get your mind into a place of contemplative preparation for the next installation – a decidedly rap-focused party at Medusa. Where most underground events slant towards EDM in the city today, you can forget about that on Thursday at Medusa. Straight rap.

This week, it's Obie The Promoter's "All Black Birthday Extravaganza." 500 or so folks will attend, and if you like hip-hop and rap music, then DJ Sam Q has your back. NBA player Iman Shumpert, Bow Wow, and other noteworthy folks have been in attendance in the last month, making Medusa one of the places to be on a Thursday night in Atlanta.

Friday, April 28

Undisclosed Location, Atlanta

Bass Family ATL definitely makes the list of promoters to follow in the city, and this Friday, they have an event that will make you reconsider those Black Angels tickets you bought (or at least have you taking an Uber from the Variety Playhouse to this underground event, once you can get your hands on that address).

Earlier this year, Bass Family ATL kicked their year off with two sold out shows called #AFTERDARK. Most recently, the group hosted the Glitch Mob event at Opera. This time around, they are bringing back that AfterDark moniker, with a specifically strong lineup of local DJ's, including Heroes X Villians (or HXV, one of the originators of that sweet trap sound), Vitillaz, Ployd (of Slow & Low fame) and others at an as-yet undisclosed warehouse location. Re-entry not allowed, and Uber (or Lyft as the case may be) highly suggested. Doors open at midnight, and the party goes until 6 a.m.

Silent Trap Party

9 p.m. Saturday, April 29

Warehouse

258 Auburn Ave., Atlanta, GA 30303

If you've ever been to a camping music festival − like Bonnaroo or (gasp) TommorowWorld for example − you probably know about the silent disco. In short, every attendee gets a set of headphones to hear the spinning from one of several DJ's on hand. In some silent disco set ups, everyone has their own music stations to choose from, in others, everyone shares the sound.

The promotion group Urban Fêtes is throwing a silent trap-edition party this Saturday, April 29th at Warehouse with 3 DJ's spinning all sorts of musical tastes. But at Midnight things get Gucci, and its nothing but silent trap the rest of the way.

Iris Presents Diamond Saints

Saturday, April 29

Rush

2715 Buford Hwy NE Atlanta, GA 30305

This Saturday, the fine people who bring Imagine Festival each year, IRIS Presents, will be hosting Diamond Saints, at Rush. The event starts at 10 p.m. and goes into the night, thumping Eddie Gold, Midnite Panda and many more EDM favorites until 3:30 a.m. The event will offer four different atmospheres, each bringing a different EDM vibe, all the lasers and base you can imagine. There's even an outdoor terrace. The event is for ages 18+ only.
