It's National Ice Cream Day: 16 things to do this weekend in Atlanta

Sunday is National Ice Cream Day, and locations all around the Metro will celebrate with free and discounted ice cream. 

While you're out enjoying a cone, make a few pit stops at some of the other events taking place. Animatronics, scrapbooking, railroads, cosplay - you'll find something to do for everyone in the family all weekend long throughout Atlanta.

It's time for the Railroad Rendezvous again, and this year's event will feature a few additions. Along with the old favorites, guests will also get a chance to see model train layouts, board a real locomotive, create railroad-themed crafts and take part in hands-on activities.

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park will host Infantry Demonstrations throughout the weekend. This not-to-miss event is free to the public and will include basic infantry tactics, live demonstrations and real musket firings.

Combining free ice cream with wall-to-wall inflatables - now that's a recipe for fun. In celebration of National Ice Cream Day, Monkey Joe's in Marietta will offer the first 100 guests free ice cream along with $2 off admission this Sunday.

Named after the beloved goat, Mulberry, the Mulberry Fields Gone Wylde event will celebrate the Wylde Center's newest addition. It all takes place this Saturday, and will feature a concert, activities for the whole family, games and more.

When you combine cardboard crafts with robotics, you have the makings of and afternoon of educational fun. Bring your Arduino IDE-loaded laptop to this free class and discover how to create your own functional animatronic puppet.
