From festivals to bicycle tours to water parks, there a lot of ways to have a good time — and maybe even stay cool — in greater Hotlanta this summer. Here are 25 suggestions that might just make you want to forsake the air-conditioning and get out of the house. …

1. Atlanta Street Food Festival. Try a spicy bloody mary popsicle by Ibiza Bites and the blue cheese fries by Fry Guy as you explore the South's culinary treasures. 2. Attend an unveiling. An interactive installation, "Mi Casa, Your Casa," going up on Sifly Piazza outside the High Museum of Art, was created by Mexican designers Hector Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena. It will feature more than 35 mobile, three-dimensional open frames in the shape of houses, serving as settings for a profusion of free events this summer and fall. July 18-Nov. 2. 3. Get zombified. Zombies are back, as if they ever left. This time, they're infesting bars and restaurants in Virginia-Highland. 4. Summer is all about barbecue. Come out and taste the best Atlanta has to offer at the Atlanta BBQ Festival at Atlantic Station. Sample a selection of 20 top-shelf bourbons and enjoy live music and barbecue cooking demonstrations, all while filling your face. 5. DragonCon. From Power Rangers to Super Saiyan, DragonCon brings together the best of science fiction, fantasy and animation. Featured events include autograph sessions, wrestling shows, a late-night puppet slam and DragonCon night at the Georgia Aquarium. Get your costumes ready, the annual DragonCon parade begins at 10 a.m. Aug. 30. 6. Discover summer fun at the Rock Ranch. Pony rides, pedal carts, slide hill and the giant jumping pillow are among the attractions. 7. Encounter hundreds of butterflies. The live butterfly exhibit at the Chattahoochee Nature Center runs through July 13. 13. The Beach in Clayton County. New water slides are now open. 15. Commemorate the Battle of Atlanta. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Civil War battle. Many Atlanta Cyclorama events are set for July 12-20 at the battlefield in southeast Atlanta. Included are Civil War to civil rights presentations, battlefield tours, music, storytelling and the 5K Double Quick Race. Also, take a look at what once was the largest painting in the world, an 1887 depiction of the battle, measuring 42 feet high and 358 feet long. $8-$10. 16. Hurricane Harbor. It's the first summer for the water park located inside Six Flags Over Georgia.
