MARIETTA

Remember When Club

Before rushing off to the mall today, you might want to learn a bit about what Black Friday was like in the good old days before the advent of Thanksgiving night doorbusters. Or you might want to share your memories of donning hats and gloves and trekking downtown to ride the Pink Pig at Atlanta’s hometown department store. Those memories are the focus of the Remember When Club, whose meeting Friday will center around “Shopping at Rich’s.” Attendees are encouraged to reminisce. But the club isn’t limited just to those who have lived it; anyone is welcome to be a part of the conversation.

10:30-11:30 a.m. Nov. 27. Club admission is free; tours of the museum are $5-$7, free for members. Marietta Museum of History, 1 Depot St., Marietta. 770-794-5710, mariettahistory.org.

STONE MOUNTAIN

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Crack open that bottom dresser drawer, move aside the good and the bad, and don that seriously horrid holiday sweater. Its time finally has come. Art Station’s Youth Advisory Committee is holding its first Ugly Christmas Sweater Party right after the city of Stone Mountain’s Christmas parade, which marches through downtown starting at 6:30 p.m. A ticket gets you a beverage and the chance to vote for the best (meaning worst) sweater. The winner will score two free tickets to the upcoming Cirque du Soleil “Kurios” at Atlantic Station. To ease the visual pain, the party will feature snacks, live music and all-round holiday cheer.

Post-parade, about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27. $10. Art Station, 5384 Manor Drive, Stone Mountain. 770-469-1105, artstation.org.
