This event is designed to give the family’s furriest members a chance to enjoy a romp outdoors, with owner in tow. Chattahoochee Bend State Park invites dogs of all shapes and sizes to enjoy the park for an afternoon. The fun begins as owners create toys out of old T-shirts for their canine companions (be sure to bring two shirts per pup). Afterward, hike with your hound or prance with your pooch along the river and take in the bucolic scenery. All furry friends must be on 6-foot leashes at all times. Pre-registration is highly encouraged.

Lego skyline build
The sky’s the limit at this event. The Barnes and Noble bookstore at Mansell Crossings is looking for adults and teenagers 14 years and older to lend a hand assembling its new Lego skyline display. Afterward, the serious sets will come out during the Lego architecture build, a challenge that gives attendees the chance to show off their building-block prowess and create some of the world’s most memorable architectural marvels. Up to the challenge? “Brick” away from your normal routine, “lego” any inhibitions and leave the Krazy Glue at home.

Once Upon a Dive In
The cold weather outside stirs up a strong desire to stay curled up on the couch, watching a movie. But folks at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center want you to get your cold bones moving and have your movie, too. Dive into the monthly movie night Jan. 30 at the facility’s indoor pool, where the water and air temperature are always balmy. Bring noodles or clear inner tubes or grab one of the flotation devices on hand, then enjoy the water while watching “Inside Out.”
