Heat of Summer exhibition

What says summer best? See what the season has inspired local artists to emblazon on canvas. For Heat of Summer, a juried show presented by the North Gwinnett Arts Association in Suwanee, established and amateur artists were invited to submit original 2-D works (excluding photography) that focus on anything related to summer’s warm climate. See something that resonates? All the works in the show are for sale. The exhibition runs through Sept. 10.

Family Fun Day

Get your mind and body moving this weekend, and bring the whole family along while you’re doing it. Akrosphere Aerial Dance & Circus Arts and Performers Warehouse have teamed up to present an afternoon of fun for all ages that involves nailing a series of inventive challenges. Parents and kids can work together through various stations designed to get both the physical and creative juices flowing. Collect stamps after each station, and use them to claim prizes at the end. Be sure to wear clothes that allow you to move freely.

Back to School Bash

Listen closely: That rumbling in the distance is the combination of groans coming from children and joyous shouts of parents across Fayette County, reacting to the start of a new school year. Peachtree City officials want to help kids ease back into the classroom by celebrating the end of summer with a Back to School Bash. Start the night with face painting, slot car racing, rock climbing, balloon art and plenty of food. Once the sun goes down, pull out a few blankets or low lawn chairs, and settle in for a viewing of “Inside Out.”
