KENNESAW

Garden Gallop

Before the candy infusion begins, wake up early this Halloween and burn a few calories with Kennesaw’s Garden Gallop, one of six 5Ks sponsored by the Cobb city throughout the year. The race winds down Main Street, from the heart of town to Swift Cantrell Park. Racers with strollers are welcome, but please don’t dash with your dog. The 5K is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier, but, if that’s not a top priority, consider the 1-mile fun run, or let the kiddies compete in the tot trot. Same-day registration opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 7:15 a.m. in front of Kennesaw First Baptist Church. All proceeds benefit the Smith-Gilbert Gardens educational programs and live plant collection.

6-10 a.m. Oct. 31. $15-$30. Downtown Kennesaw, 2958 N. Main St., Kennesaw. 770-919-0248, kennesawgrandprix.com.

DUNWOODY

Paws in the Park

Brook Run Park is the site of this fifth annual charity dog walk, which benefits Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption. Sign up to walk with your pet to raise money for the group’s efforts, or drop by to enjoy the canine craziness. A kids scavenger hunt is planned, and vendors of pet-related products will be on hand. There’s also the possibility you’ll leave with one of the adoptable rescue dogs that will be there looking for a home. Make sure any furry friends are tethered to nonretractable leashes and are up-to-date on shots.

Noon-5 p.m. Nov. 1. $10 admission; $30 to walk. Brook Run Park, 4770 N. Peachtree Road, Dunwoody. 404-815-6680, pawsintheparkatlanta.com.
