LAWRENCEVILLE

Summer Fun Festival

This weekend marks the official beginning of summer, and festivals abound around the metro area. In Lawrenceville, the Summer Fun Festival will offer family fun, with a petting zoo, face painting, carnival games and a magic show for kids, along with live entertainment and a silent auction for adults. To be part of the fun, make a financial contribution or donate school supplies, both of which will go to Lift Up Atlanta, an organization that provides housing, food and clothing to homeless women and children in the community.

10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 20. Admission: donation or school supplies. Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville. 678-245-4622, liftupatlanta.org.

KENNESAW

Go Skateboarding Day

June 21 isn’t just about fathers; it’s also Go Skateboarding Day. Whether or not your dad is a rad shredder, convince him — and the whole family — to swing by Kennesaw Skatepark, where there will be open skate sessions, contests, giveaways and games. One contest aims to find the best father-son and father-daughter skate teams and award them prizes from Ambush Board Co. The event also will feature music and food vendors. And it’s all at a price dads will love — free!

Noon-4 p.m. June 21. Free. Kennesaw Skatepark at Swift-Cantrell Park, 3140 Old 41 Highway, Kennesaw. 770-422-9714, skatekennesaw.com.

STONE MOUNTAIN

Hawaiian Luau

There may not be palm trees, pristine sand or tropical breezes, but you still can get into the Hawaiian spirit during this event at the Mountain Park Aquatic Center in Gwinnett County. Join in the Hula Hoop contests, dance the limbo, and layer on the leis. The live soundtrack for the afternoon will come from Atlanta Steel Pan & Island Music. The cost of admission includes one Chick-fil-A sandwich and a kiddie-sized Kona Ice. Also, the pool will be open, so don’t forget the swimsuits.

Noon-3 p.m. June 20. $9. Mountain Park Aquatic Center & Activity Building, 1063 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain. 678-227-0870, gcvb.org.
