Family Swim Night
The heat of a summer day doesn’t dissipate after 5 p.m. On June 26, you can find a place to cool off by heading to Best Friend Park in Norcross, where the pool will be open for a refreshing party until 8:30 p.m. Family Swim Night offers all ages the chance to take a dip together. Along with the giant water slide and wet-play structures, a variety of other games will be available to keep the family entertained. Regular admission prices apply and vary according to age and residency. Can’t make it Friday? Another family swim is planned for June 29 at Lenora Park pool, 4315 Lenora Church Road, Snellville.

KENNESAW
Civil War artillery demonstration
Don’t be perturbed if you hear booming coming from the direction of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park this weekend. It’s just the rangers and living history volunteers reminding everyone what a real cannon sounded like. Five times on Saturday and again on Sunday they’ll load the Civil War-era, 3-inch ordnance guns and set them off with blanks. In between shots, experts will explain how the guns were operated, loaded and transported to the battlefields. Visitors are also welcome to explore more Civil War armament in the visitors center.

Adult Skate Night
Still nostalgic for the roller rink of your youth — that cool Friday night hangout where you’d go to listen to new music and maybe grab your crush’s hand for a few rounds? The Hot Wheels Skate Center is ready to bring it all back. Grab your old skates from the back of the closet or rent a pair once you get there ($4 per rental) and hit the wooden floor. DJ Silver ATL will play a variety of skate songs, from disco to dance, Whitney to Britney. Adults only, though, so anyone younger than 18 won’t be admitted.
