Summer is coming to an end, at least for those who have to be back in school in a few weeks, and local retailers are getting everyone in the fall frame of mind. At Sugarloaf Mills in Gwinnett, a Back to School party will be held inside the mall to celebrate the end of carefree summer days and get kids ready for class. Along with shopping for backpacks and new shoes, look for school-themed crafts, activities and giveaways. The party is part of Simon’s Kidgits program, which holds monthly events throughout the year at participating metro area malls.

Color Me Free 5K Color Run
Add a little color to your life while supporting a good cause: Georgia Cares, an organization that works to free victims of sex trafficking. But this isn’t the typical 5K where runners may get splashed with water as they pass. Along the 3.1-mile route, participants will be doused with colorful, washable paints. By the end of the route, the crowd will resemble a rainbow — so be sure to wear white to enhance the vibrant effect.
8 a.m. July 26. $45. Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta. 404-602-0068. gacares.org.
