LOCUST GROVE
Goblin Gallop Race
Ghouls and goblins are running around Locust Grove! In costume, of course. Runners will be donning their favorite Halloween attire to participate in this 5K, 10K or 1-mile event designed for the whole family. For tykes a little too young to jog alongside, consider entering them in the Tot Trot, which will take place after the longer races. Proceeds from the event will benefit Hands of Hope Clinic, a charitable medical center in Henry County. To run, register before midnight the day before, then arrive at 7:45 a.m. to pick up registration.
9 a.m. Oct. 24. $10-$20. Heron Bay Golf & Country Club, 3080 Heron Bay Blvd., Locust Grove. 770-826-4677, getsetgrow.com.

DUNWOODY
“Play the Play with Cat the Cat”
Making a new friend sometimes can be tough. But, the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta wants to teach kids that it doesn’t have to be difficult. The MJCCA is staging a play featuring Mo Willems’ Cat the Cat and the simple, rhyming language from his beloved books. The production is aimed at children from 18 months to 5 years old (“and their grown-ups”). As part of the show, kids will have the chance to view Cat the Cat’s parade of animal friends, copy their animal sounds, and learn a new language. They’ll then follow Cat the Cat’s lead as a newcomer enters the scene and wants to become friends.
12:15, 1:30 and 2:45 p.m. Oct. 25. $5-$15. Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, 5342 Tilly Mill Road, Dunwoody. 678-812-4000, atlantajcc.org.
