Food That Rocks

Celebrate Sandy Springs with your taste buds at the Food That Rocks event. More than 20 local area restaurants, including Buttermilk Sky PieHammocksThree Sheets and Under the Cork Tree, will be on site with food, wine, cocktails and beer tastings. Pair those beverages and bites with live music from local bands such as The Biffs. As an added bonus, local author Mary Kay Andrews will be on hand with copies of her latest tome, "The Beach House Cookbook," a collection of her favorite recipes from family and friends. In addition to the tasty fun, a portion of your ticket cost will support organizations such as the Georgia Ovarian Cancer AllianceIan's Friends Foundation and Second Helpings Atlanta. Be sure to leave the kids at home. All attendees much be 21 or older.

5k Foam Fest

As the heat starts to climb, go from fuming to foaming this weekend with the 5k Foam Fest at Lake Lanier. But be prepared. This isn’t your average 5k. You’ll have to overcome 22 different obstacles, including the Chamber of Foam, the Spider Web Forest, three separate slip ’n slides and a log roll before you can arrive at the foamy finish. Once at the end, you’ll be rewarded with all sorts of goodies, including a beach towel to wipe down with and a finisher’s medal. Kids older than 8 years old can join in as a family entry, and there’s no limit to the size of the team you put together.
