DULUTH
Spring Arts Festival
Duluth is bursting with all kinds of creativity this weekend during the Spring Arts Festival. Featuring more than 125 painters, glass blowers, photographers, sculptors and more, this celebration “for artists by artists” will have a seemingly endless array of items to marvel at — and buy. Between purchases, enjoy demonstrations, a children’s area and live music. Stick around to see which pieces judges choose as best in show while soaking up all the creative vibes. And while you’re in an artsy mood, check out some of Duluth’s permanent art, such “Ascension” Gateway, the community mural or the Main Street Wall project.
10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 10; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. June 11. Free admission. Duluth Town Green, 3167 Main St., Duluth. 770-476-3434, duluthartsfestival.com.
ALPHARETTA
Charity Horse Show
Saddle up and gallop (or belt up and drive) over to the Save the Horses Rescue’s Charity Horse Show in Wills Equestrian Park. Spend the day watching local area riders showcase their talents – and those of their four-legged companions. Take a class in either English and Western riding styles. Stroll around – on your own two legs – and check out the vendors selling a range of equestrian merchandise while connecting with other horse lovers from the area. Proceeds from the show benefit the Save the Horses organization that feeds and provides medical treatments for the 130 rescued horses, as well as other animals, it cares for.
9 a.m. June 11. Free for spectators. Wills Equestrian Park, 11915 Willis Road, Alpharetta. 770-886-5419, savethehorses.org.
