STONE MOUNTAIN
Lewis Grizzard ‘In His Own Words’
Beloved Southern writer Lewis Grizzard may have passed on long ago, but his comedy continues to entertain audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Here’s a chance to start the weekend by recalling some of his best laughs by watching as Bill Oberst Jr. brings the famed comedian back to life. Born and raised in Georgia, Grizzard was a well-known columnist for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and a local icon throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. Oberst’s performance weaves together Grizzard’s best stand-up comedy routines and writings to showcase his unique brand of Southern humor. Purchase tickets in advance: This perennial favorite has been known to sell out quickly.

The new Goldfish Swim School has a soothing 90-degree heated pool that will do the trick. Check out the facility during the grand opening celebration this weekend. Along with free family swims, kids can enjoy all sorts of fun, with face painting, a balloon artist, raffles and free snacks. While there, take a look at the schedule of swim classes for kids.
