BROOKHAVEN

Oscar Night Party

The question isn’t who are you wearing, but where are you watching. The Academy Awards come only once a year, and it seems a shame to see them on the same big screen you bought only to watch the Falcons lose. Do the night up right by heading to the party at CineBistro. Beginning with a cocktails and hors d’oeuvres reception, the Brookhaven theater hosts a night grand enough to match the spectacle in Hollywood. Take your picture in the photo booth and enter the raffle to win prizes. When it comes time for the main event, enjoy a three-course meal and continuous service throughout the evening. Guests must be 21 or older.

6:30 p.m. Feb. 26. $55. CineBistro Brookhaven, 1004 Town Blvd., Atlanta. 404-333-0740, cinebistro.com/brookhaven.

LITHIA SPRINGS

Engineers R’ Us

Is your child the type who tinkers with every household item she can get her hands on? Or the kind of kid who asks endless questions about how things work? Perhaps you’ve got a mini engineer on your hands just waiting to satisfy his or her curiosity and explore the world. Mercer University’s Douglas Center, in partnership with J.J.’s Playhouse, will give kids a chance to do that as part of the Engineers R’ Us event, designed to inspire the next generation of STEM scholars. With the help of hands-on activities such as building glow sticks and unmanned cars, the event morning meeting will showcase several different fields of engineering. Register online beforehand to save a spot.

10 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 25. $5 per family. Mercer University Douglas County Regional Academic Center, 975 Blairs Bridge Road, Lithia Springs. 678-557-4230, jjsplayhouse.org.
