Valentine Story Time
Celebrate Valentine’s Day a little ahead of schedule at FoxTale Book Shoppe in Woodstock. The independent bookstore welcomes kids of all ages for a fun morning of decorating their own Valentine’s cards and enjoying a few special Valentine’s-inspired cookies. Storyteller Miss Beth will read aloud from “Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool,” “Aw, Nuts!” and an “Elephant and Piggie” selection in the magical children’s room, featuring the shop’s one-of-a-kind flying blue bicycle. After story time, the kids can join in a singalong and leave with their creations and a few special stickers.

Valentine’s Dinner
They say the fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but let’s be real: Everyone loves good food. So what better way to fill your valentine’s heart with love than with a romantic dinner — a few days before the official Feb. 14 date? Make plans to share a five-course Italian feast at Piastra on the Marietta Square, where the menu highlights will include soup, cheese, salad, dessert and flank steak rolled in crab mousse over risotto — each designed to make your special someone swoon. For an additional $30 per person, add a wine pairing to each course. Reservations are suggested, but not required.

‘Rising From the Rails’
The Southeastern Railway Museum hosts a special Black History Month exhibit titled “Rising From the Rails,” featuring works that capture the African-American experience as well as the community’s contributions to railroad history. Artists from around the country will be featured, including Veronica Dominick-Oglesby, Jean Lewis, Aleatha Lindsay, Herman McClenton, Vernon Robinson and Alaina Williams. Hosted by the United Ebony Society, the exhibit will run throughout the entire month of February. While at the museum, guests can also check out vintage trains and ride the Grand Scale park train.
