International Cafe: Conversational English and Spanish at Chamblee Library
Looking for a place to practice that second language? It’s a fiesta of words as folks put their new vocabulary to the test at this event. Guests who are learning to chat in English and Spanish can join fellow practitioners looking to do the same. This gathering typically takes place the second Saturday of each month, except for holidays. Organizers suggest registering in advance by calling the library and asking for extension 2257.

American Short Stories Discussion Group at Doraville Library
Those who prefer the short of it, rather than the long, can share the love. Short story fans pick up this month’s selections at the library’s circulation desk, take them home and read. Then it’s time to return to talk about the material. This month, participants will be ingesting the work of author Fanny Fern. No need to fret about registration, as last-minute guests are welcome. It’s recommended for ages 18 and older, so let the kiddies spend some tome time in the children’s section.
10:30-11:30 a.m. May 11. Free. Doraville Library, 3748 Central Ave., Doraville. 770-936-3852.
