“Lincoln” at Stone Mountain-Sue Kellogg Library

If all you know about President Abraham Lincoln comes from a $5 bill, then this movie may be for you. The Academy Award-winning film, directed and produced by Steven Spielberg in 2012, stars Daniel Day-Lewis as the country’s 16th president. Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field co-star. Not only do guests get a super-size presentation, but it’s free. Don’t feel guilty for getting it gratis. “Lincoln” has reportedly grossed more than $266 million at the box office. The movie is rated PG-13.

International Cafe: Conversational English and Spanish at Chamblee Library

Looking for a place to practice that second language? It’s a fiesta of words as folks put their new vocabulary to the test at this event. Guests who are learning to chat in English and Spanish can join fellow practitioners looking to do the same. This gathering typically takes place the second Saturday of each month, except for holidays. Organizers suggest registering in advance by calling the library and asking for extension 2257.

American Short Stories Discussion Group at Doraville Library

Those who prefer the short of it, rather than the long, can share the love. Short story fans pick up this month’s selections at the library’s circulation desk, take them home and read. Then it’s time to return to talk about the material. This month, participants will be ingesting the work of author Fanny Fern. No need to fret about registration, as last-minute guests are welcome. It’s recommended for ages 18 and older, so let the kiddies spend some tome time in the children’s section.
