Saturday, August 1 - Soapbox Derby Race (Old Fourth Ward)11 a.m. at Historic Old Fourth Ward Park. Cheer on your child's custom-designed and hand-built car racing down the tracks at the Cool Dads Rock Soap Box Derby. The event will also feature music, food trucks and activities for the whole family. Single entries and teams can register online and the race is free to watch.

Sunday, August 2 -- Film festival (Duluth)11 a.m. at Gwinnett Center. View local and international films during the Gwinnett Center International Film Festival. There will be seminars, vendors and film panels throughout the weekend-long event. Stay until 7:30 p.m. for the awards ceremony. Tickets are $15 per day and $35 for a weekend pass.

Saturday, August 8 - Movie Night in Candler ParkDusk at Candler Park. The Friends of Candler Park host a free, family movie night in the park. Saturday, August 8 - Monday Night Brewing's 4th Anniversary2:00 p.m. at Monday Night Brewing.The Westside purveyors of beer and necktie-themed marketing will celebrate four years with an extensive lineup of MNB beers, special casks, live bluegrass, and a special, brewery-only bottle release of its Tie 4 On Quad. $30-$35.

Thursday, August 13 -- Wild on the Rocks (Grant Park)6 p.m. at Zoo Atlanta. Join Zoo Atlanta for cocktails, food trucks, live music and zoo-centric art during its Wild on the Rocks event. Friday, August 14 -- Atlanta Brew for the Family (Intown Atlanta)6 p.m. at Monday Night Brewing Company. Spend a night out sampling six different craft beers, walking through a guided brewery tour, listening to music and donating to charity. All proceeds of Atlanta Brew for the Family go toward the RBA Grant of Hope, which helps fund Georgia families using fertility treatment. Regular tickets are $40.

Saturday, August 15 -- Piedmont Park Arts Festival (Midtown)10 a.m. at Piedmont Park. Discover your creative side at the 6th annual Piedmont Park Arts Festival, a 2-day event hosted by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces. The festival will display art from more than 200 painters, photographers, sculptor, glass blowers, jewelers and other crafters. Saturday, August 15 -- Atlanta BAR-B-Q Festival (Midtown)12 p.m. at Atlantic Station. The many flavors of barbecue will be at your fingertips during the 7th annual Atlanta BAR-B-Q Festival. Tasting eventsand cooking competitions will pit Texas, Carolina, Memphis, St. Louis and Kentucky style barbecue against each other. Tickets are $6 in advance or $10 at the door. Additional passes, such as the Bourbon Experience ticket a glass and tokens to enjoy samples of more than 30 premium bourbons, are also available for purchase.

Saturday, August 15 -- Decatur Blues, BBQ & Bluegrass Festival (Decatur)12 p.m. in Decatur. Founded in 2000 and growing each year, the event brings together blues and bluegrass musicians to listen to while you enjoy delicious barbecue. All proceeds directly support the Decatur community. Tickets are $10 in advance and $20 the day of the festival.

Sunday, August 16 -- Live production of Rent (Westside) 8 p.m. at Actor's Express. Actor's Express extended its production of "Rent," so be sure to catch the New York themed musical.  Tickets prices begin at $28 and can be purchased online or by calling 404-607-7469.

Sunday, August 16 -- Give Me Five dinner (Midtown)5 p.m. at Piedmont Driving Club. Eat a delicious meal and help a charity all in one night. The annual Give Me Five dinner, which allows guests to sample dishes from Atlanta chefs and sommeliers, donates portions of their sales to Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign. Attendees will enjoy a cocktail reception, a five-course dinner and a silent auction throughout the night. Tickets are $275 and can be purchased here.

Friday, August 21 -- Cary Hudson Performance (Buckhead)9 p.m. at Cook Hall. Jam out to Southern rock with musician Cary Hudson at Cook Hall. Hudson was the lead singer and guitarist of Blue Mountain and now holds a solor career, continuing to perform Southern rock music. Saturday, August 22: German Bierfest (Downtown)2 p.m. at Woodruff Park. Bringing a taste of Europe to Atlanta, the German Bierfest allows attendees to sample almost 50 German beers along with bar-friendly food concessions. Tickets are available online for $40 and the day of the event for $45. Note that smoking is not permitted, and drinking is not allowed outside the venue.

Saturday, August 29: Imagine Music Festival  (Old Fourth Ward)10 a.m. at Historic Fourth Ward Park. A two-day dance music festival, Imagine features stages showcasing the talent of musicians, DJs and bands from around the world. The event only admits guests 18 years and older with valid identification and will continue rain or shine. Tickets start at $149 and can be purchased online.

Sunday, August 30: 3D printing the future (Midtdown)Various times at MODA. An ongoing series by the Museum of Design and Art, this seminar will let artists of all levels explore projects that incorporate 3D printing technology in innovative ways. Sunday, August 30: Foxeria del Sol (Westside)4 p.m. at Taqueria del Sol. Taqueria del Sol and Fox Bros.
