Soon, pizza lovers can unite for a summer trek celebrating the pie in epic proportions.
Emory University students Sam Oppenheim and Aidan Williams are hosting Atlanta's first-ever pizza crawl on Saturday, June 17. The pizzeria-hopping event will span throughout Midtown and has more than 6,000 people buzzing about it on Facebook.

Tickets are in high demand and limited.
Oppenheim and Williams only expected to attract a few fellow classmates from Emory when they first posted the crawl on Facebook.
The pair was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly their event picked up steam with each Facebook commenter tagging someone else, which turned into thousands of Atlantans declaring they wanted to come along for the pizza excursion.
Only 200 participants can attend the event though. Tickets will be sold on Eventbrite for $30 starting at 8 p.m. June 7. Registration includes five slices of pizza, fountain drinks, a pop from King of Pops and the official Atlanta Pizza Crawl T-shirt. If you want to join the pizza party, grab your ticket before they're gone.
Prepare to eat a good helping of pizza.
Ray's New York Pizza, Midtown’s Domino's location, Mellow Mushroom, Princi Italia and DaVinci's Pizzeria will all be on deck for Saturday’s crawl.
Know the route in advance.
Pizza adventurers will begin their expedition
at Hardy Ivy Park, 300 West Peachtree St NW, Atlanta.
A banner will mark the official launch point for the two-mile pizza trek. Parking is available in the World of Coca-Cola parking garage, but there is no designated parking for the event.
Take note that the route is not circular and will not end where it began. The organizers suggest that participants either use ridesharing apps or find a walkable route from and to the crawl.
Proceeds will go to charity.
After seeing how their small-scale event has caught fire, Oppenheim and Williams have decided to contribute to something greater than the landscape of Atlanta food events - charity.
All proceeds from the Atlanta Pizza Crawl will benefit Atlanta Community Food Bank, brings nutritious food to families in need in the Atlanta area to help end hunger. Once 200 people register, the crawl could potentially raise $6,000 for the charity.
"Since it's a pizza crawl we wanted to choose an organization related to food. The Atlanta Food Bank is a very transparent, accountable organization whose work directly benefits our community," Oppenheim said.
