Rose Garden Gala

It's spring, so take every chance to stop and smell the roses. Here's an event that will have you doing just that–literally. Enjoy an evening under the stars and among the fragrant flowers during the Smith-Gilbert Gardens' 7th Annual Rose Garden Gala. Stroll through the carefully sculpted gardens, have your picture taken beneath the rose arbor, and bid on items in the live and silent auctions, all while live music provides the soundtrack for the evening. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to support science and nature-based education programs, as well as to fund the study of the more than 3,000 plants in the gardens.

6-10 p.m. May 20. $125 - $875. Smith-Gilbert Gardens, 2382 Pine Mountain Road, Kennesaw. 770-919-0248, smithgilbertgardens.com.

BROOKHAVEN

Slingin’ Wings Festival

Springtime also means it's time to get out and eat some wings. If you're a lover of little chicken bites, head to Brookhaven this weekend where local chefs are pulling out all the saucy stops for the Slingin' Wings Festival. Taste the best wings a dozen area restaurants have to offer, and cast your vote for the People's Choice winner. While you nosh, savor a brew or two in the beer garden, or check out the array of contests and activities throughout the festival. While you're having food and fun, know that a portion of your ticket price will go to support Releash Atlanta, a nonprofit that helps rescue dogs from Georgia's kill shelters.
