From chomping and stomping to field day and stuffing our faces silly, November is a jam packed month in Atlanta. Here are some of the can't-possibly-miss events coming up:
November 1 | Sunday Supper South
Imagine chefs from all over the South congregating in one kitchen to cook a meal that would inspire dreams for months to come. Got it? Good. That's what you can expect at Sunday Supper South. Chefs Bruce Logue, Hector Santiago, Jeremiah Bacon, Justin Devellier and others will be cooking a supper inspired by the Day of the Dead. This year's annual James Beard dinner has found a new home at Ponce City Market. Tickets are $250.
November 1 | King of Pops Field Day
Do you miss the field days of childhood? Do you like free popsicles? Well, the King of Pops Field Day is the perfect event for you. On Sunday, November 1, King of Pops will take over Masquerade Music Park from noon to 6 pm. Expect live music, games, races, face painting and , of course, a popsicle eating contest. Admission is free, but bring cash for the games and snacks from food trucks.
November 7 | Chomp and Stomp
Go ahead and get your stretchy pants ready, this is a chili fest to end all chili fests. Every year, thousands gather in Cabbagetown to chow down on chili, sip on brew and dance to bluegrass. The day begins with a 5K at 8 am, followed by the chili tasting at 12:30. Tasting spoons are $5 and can be found at the welcome center. They get you access to a mix of restaurants and individuals all competing for supremacy. Enjoy live music and be sure to stick around for the Brussels sprout bobbing contest.
November 7 | Flux Night
After having to postpone the original date because of weather, Flux Night is officially back. Last year, the arts festival took a year off to perfect the event. They have landed in a new home, the historic Old Fourth Ward. Honoring the neighborhood's historic roots in the civil rights movement, the theme of this year's gathering is "Dream." Art and music installations will dot the neighborhood, and admission is free.
November 7 - 8 | Sixth annual Chastain Park Fall Arts & Crafts Festival
The Chastain Park neighborhood will welcome more than 185 painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metal craftsmen, glass blowers, jewelers, and more. The festival will also offer visitors the opportunity to view artist demonstrations, enjoy live entertainment and participate in hands-on art activities. For more information, go here.
November 8 | Afternoon in the Country
For the 15th year, the Atlanta Les Dammes D'Escoffier are throwing an Afternoon in the Country at Serenbe. Nearly 100 restaurants, including Gunshow, Revivial and Aria, will serve up season fare to guests. Proceeds from Afternoon in the Country benefit Georgia Organics, Wholesome Wave, Global Growers Network, the Giving Kitchen, the Wylde Center, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and LDEI|ATL's scholarship fund for women in the culinary, beverage and hospitality arts. Last year's event raised more than $118,000 for these beneficiaries. Tickets are $125.
November 11 | Frye Co. Fall Styling
Mandy Kellog Rye of Waiting on Martha will be holding a styling event at the Frye Co. in Ponce City Market 7-9 p.m. Shoppers are invited to have a styling session with one of Atlanta’s most fashionable and explore the Frye Co.’s fall and winter collections for men and women as they enjoy complimentary bites and drinks from the Optimist and music by DJ Pat O’Brien. Free to attend.
November 14 | Inman Park Block Party
Inman Park has seen an explosion of growth lately, so they're having a party to celebrate. Join new spots Inman Quarter Beer Market, Bill Hallman, BarTaco, Made Again and more as they introduce themselves to the neighborhood. Enjoy food, fashion and lots of goodies in the Inman Quarter courtyard 2-6 pm.
November 20 | Santaland Diaries returns
The award-winning Christmas show is returning to the Horizon Theatre. The play is based on David Sedaris' accounts of life as a full-time elf at Macy's. Full of wit, sarcasm and very adult humor, this is one of the can't-miss holiday events every year. This year, Scoutmob is giving attendees a chance to see the first runs of the show. Tickets come with a grown-up Christmas beverage to go with the very grown-up show.
November 21 | Star Wars: Suite for Orchestra
As one of the biggest movie openings in years, the new 'Star Wars' is inspiring everything from marathon screenings to symphony performances. The Emory University Symphony Orchestra is channeling its inner Max Rebo Band for a one night performance of music from 'Star Wars.' Pieces include Yoda's Theme and The Imperial March. It is free to the public.
November 25 | Thanksgiving Eve with Yacht Rock Revue
The night before you stuff yourself silly while enduring all the dad jokes, relax with some dad jams. Yacht Rock Revue is taking over Venkman's the night before Thanksgiving to bring you the best of the '70s soft rock era. Think Steely Dan and Hall & Oates. Tickets start at $22.
November 28 | Insane Inflatable 5K
In a holiday season full of pies and comfort foods, running around would do us all a little good. Sure, you can run a 5K on a street or a track, but what about bunch of inflatable obstacles? Oh yes, it's a real thing. Channel your inner child and head to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for a race where you and a few thousand of your closest friends navigate bouncy houses made just for adults.
