The 2015 Hope and Will Ball benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is planned for Feb. 7 at the St. Regis. More than 650 philanthropic Atlantans attend the gala each year, and organizers expect another great crowd this year, which is its 12th anniversary.

Over the years, Hope and Will has netted more than $4.9 million for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This year’s event will support nursing training and development through CHOA’s Pediatric Simulation Center, which helps train caregivers. Other beneficiaries will include the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit, Friends Research Fund, Strong4Life wellness initiatives and the Marcus Autism Center.

Ball co-chairs are Cathy Iannotti and Stacey Ollinger. Committee members include Christy Campbell, Kimberly Lusink and Melissa Spinner (auction); Kay Douglass and Liz Shults (decor); Ashley Campbell (public relations); Amanda Easterlin (invitations); Amy Douglass and Dayton Velarde (corporate sponsorship); and Tracey Drake, Abigail Landt and Lisa Stivers (entertainment).

Patron sponsorships are $1,800 per couple, and other levels of sponsorship are available. For information, see giving.choa.org/hopeandwill, email ashley.dollar@choa.org or call 404-785-7316.

Efron/De Niro project to film in Atlanta

Our state's booming filming industry has produced some cinematic made-in-Atlanta gems. Exhibit A: "Selma." The extraordinary project, nominated for multiple Golden Globes and sure to pick up Oscar nods, opened in limited release on Christmas Day and will be showing nationwide Jan. 9. On the other end of the spectrum are flicks like "Dirty Grandpa," which starts filming soon. Zac Efron and Robert De Niro team up for this delightful sounding movie described thusly by imdb: "Right before his wedding, an uptight guy is tricked into driving his grandfather, a perverted former Army general, to Florida for spring break." Nice.
