UPDATE: Aimee Copeland is postponing her March 21 wellness retreat. "We don't want to take the chance of exposing our participants," Copeland said in an email. A new date hasn't been decided.

Original story: Spring will have sprung two days earlier, but you can celebrate the vernal equinox at a free wellness retreat in Grant Park.

Aimee Copeland, a quadruple amputee and survivor of flesh eating bacteria, will hold the third of her four-part Eudamonium series of gatherings March 21.

The Atlanta native designed the retreats "to create a space for participants to connect with the Community, the Earth and the Self," the event site states.

Aimee Copeland, who recently founded the Aimee Copeland Foundation to help others with disabilities, meets with individuals with disabilities at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, where she introduced them to adaptive stretches and exercises they can use at home. CONTRIBUTED

The retreat will include “activities and exercises designed to excite the senses, relax the body, and increase self-awareness, all in a format that encourages community and mutual support.”

There will also be yoga, mindfulness practices and outdoor activities, if the weather permits.

All ages and abilities are welcome to attend, and the first 10 to arrive will receive a free water bottle. There will also be door prizes given out at the end.

Copeland built her foundation on the belief that "mind, body and spirit are one, that the magic of the outdoors can transform physical, mental and spiritual health, that we are all imperfectly perfect, and that everyone deserves the chance to play, contribute and thrive," its website states.
