51-year-old model steals the show in Paris

Famous French model Ines de la Fressange stole the show during Fashion Week in Paris. The 51-year-old woman was once Karl Lagerfeld's muse.

Famous French model Ines de la Fressange stole the show during Fashion Week in Paris. "As the voluptuous 51-year-old strutted down the runway, the crowd cheered this one-time queen of the catwalk. Clearly moved, she turned to wave at old friends," wrote the Wall Street Journal.

When she was 50 she told the London Times that she doesn't try to look like she's 30. "Thirty? A lot of women stick with that because it was their favorite age for some reason," she said. "I don't really think like that. I mean, when a man tells you you look good, it's not because you don't have any wrinkles."

De la Fressange was designer Karl Lagerfeld's muse before he unceremoniously fired her as his fashion house's face when she was in her 20s.

During her appearance on the runway this week, Designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, whose creation she was wearing, must have been moved by the moment because he chased the former supermodel down the runway.

He reportedly almost wrestled her to the ground during the final moments of the show and caught her just before she fell. Fashion models are not just 14-year-olds," Gaultier said later."There are no barriers to beauty."

Last year Ines de la Fressange received a Legion d'honneur. This award was instituted in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte as the highest honor France could bestow.

Ines de la Fressange was once married. Here she is with her husband Luigi D'Urso in 2003. D'Urso died in 2006 from a heart attack at the age of 54.

Last year she attended the funeral for French designer Yves Saint-Laurent.
