2 of 5 stars [A worthy addition to its neighborhood, and the food is consistent.]
Vino Venue is a restaurant, retail shop and the new home to Atlanta Wine School. It features three Enomatic stations with 32 selections. Customers load nonexpiring debit cards with funds and fill glasses from stations pouring whites, big reds or pinots.
The wine vending machines allow customers to purchase tastes, half glasses and whole glasses at will. Budding oenophiles can explore and compare different varietals, blends and growing regions.
These samples prime guests for the nearly 50 wines by the glass and a lengthy list of bottles available (many in the $29-$42 range). For companions who don’t drink wine, Vino Venue has compiled a thoughtful craft beer list with both foreign and domestic brews.
Chef Faye Stein developed a menu she hopes will create an “impressive taste experience” that works in conjunction with the wine experience. You’ll find a range of small plates, from light (flatbreads and salads) to hearty (short ribs and lamb riblets), but none so flashy as to take center stage, leaving that to the wine. The bistro fare plays a supporting role.
While wine bars continue to grow in number, Vino Venue is positioned to offer a unique opportunity and experience.
