TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL: The week's entertainment news was dominated by the death of Michael Jackson. His sister, Janet, made a surprise appearance at the BET Awards on Sunday to thank the national TV audience for their support.

KARL MALDEN DIES: Actor Karl Malden, a former steelworker who won an Oscar for his role as Mitch in the 1951 classic "A Streetcar Named Desire," died Wednesday at age 97.

MALDEN HONOR: In 2004, Karl Malden held his Life Achievement Award with presenter Michael Douglas (right) at the Screen Actors Guild awards in Los Angeles. The two actors starred together in the TV series "The Streets of San Francisco."

HONORING ED McMAHON: U.S. Marine Lex McMahon, the son of the late television personality Ed McMahon speaks at a memorial service for his father in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Atlanta rapper T.I. and his wife, former Xscape singer Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, have been involved in several reality TV ventures: "T.I.'s Road to Redemption," an MTV series that documented T.I.'s last days of freedom before incarceration; BET's "Tiny & Toya," on which Cottle starred with Lil' Wayne's girlfriend, Antonia "Toya" Carter; the pair appeared together on the VH1 show "T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle,"; and Tiny appeared on VH1's "Tiny and Shekinah's Weave Trip."
