Dr. Seuss’s birthday: How to celebrate at 15 Fulton County libraries

What You Need To Know: Dr. Seuss

Thursday is Dr. Seuss’s birthday. And libraries across Fulton County have come up with the perfect gift for the man who gave so many of us the gift of reading:

More reading.

In honor of National Reading Day — an annual event that takes place on March 2, the day that Theodor Seuss Geisel was born in 1904 — 15 Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System branches will celebrate the author of "The Cat in the Hat" "Green Eggs and Ham" and some 60 other beloved children's books.

(Actually, three libraries are so excited, they’re having their celebrations a day early, on Wednesday). Meanwhile, proving that we’re all “Grinch”-loving kids at heart, some important grownups will take part at different locations: Martin Luther King III, Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann, a couple of authors and mayors and even a fire department, to name a few. There’ll be a make-your-own-Seuss-character-mask session at one branch, fishbowl crafting at another and of course, reading, reading, reading, everywhere.
