Atlanta Pride Festival

Mamie Hilliard and Susan Culler (right), members of the Unitarian Universalist Congregations of Georgia, share a moment. Hilliard and Culler have had marriages and led separate lives for 40 years, and have been together for two years ever since meeting one another. Hilliard has children and grandchildren and Culler has a son. "We just wished that everybody can find the love that we have."

Cole Darche is enrolled in Indiana University of Purdue for respiratory therapy. Darche, 20, has been engaged in a lesbian relationship that has lasted for two years. "No one ever thought that anyone could tie me down, but it's just true love I guess."

Jennifer House with, Lily Powell, 2, one of three children House and her partner brought to Saturday's events. Atlanta Pride is one of the country's largest gay-themed festivals.

Marlina McKay works as a IT coordinator by day and is a member of the Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra, a community music group.

Al Pellenberg, a 23-year volunteer with Pride, lies atop the AIDS quilt made in honor of his partner Max Lee Ahrendt, who passed away 20 years ago. Pellenberg was one of many who visited the quilt room to think about friends and partners now gone.

Courtney Abraham (left) and Kristyne Boyd, both 18, are high school sweethearts who traveled from McMinnville, Tenn., to be at the festival. Abraham and Boyd have been dating for a year and two months.
