Find out how to make Honeysuckle Gelato's lemon basil gelato (makes two 2-quart batches)
Gather all your ingredients
Pour 4 cups of milk into a thick-bottomed saucepan over low-medium heat
Add 1 cup of sugar to the milk
Heat until bubbling
Meanwhile, in a separate container, whisk cornstarch with the remaining cup of milk
Make sure there are no lumps in the mixture
When the milk/sugar mixture begins to boil, add the corn starch mixture and cook 5 more minutes, whisking constantly
Chill your mixture until cool (and here's Honeysuckle's commercial ice cream maker!)
Pour the chilled mixture into a blender and add the juice from two lemons
Add the zest from two lemons
Add two sprigs of basil leaves
Blend well
Pour into an ice cream maker
Churn the mix until it has thickened, about 20 minutes
