Pandas arrive at Zoo Atlanta

HARTSFIELD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT- Two giant Pandas, Lun Lun and Yang Yang were safely delivered 11/05/99 from Beijing to the UPS facility in the cargo section of Hartsfield. UPS workers offloaded the Boeing 767 containers containing the bears on the tarmac following a welcome spray of water by fire apparatus as the plane taxied in on it's arrival. The bears were escorted by police motorcade to the their new 7 million dollar Panda habitat where they will be quarantined until November 20th for their 1st public exhibit. (JOHN SPINK / AJC STAFF)

The new Giant Pandas at Zoo Atlanta early this afternoon, 11/15/99. Today was the first time they've been outside in their new exhibit. Up to now they have been quarantined and kept inside, having access to only to climate controlled areas. The male, Yang Yang, is on left and the female, Lun-Lun, is on the right.
