For its third incarnation, the Shaky Knees Music Festival is moving to Central Park in Midtown and bringing a hefty lineup with it.
The indie rock event, which began in 2013 at Masquerade Music Park and last year expanded to Atlantic Station, will take place May 8-10 with a roster highlighted by the Strokes, the Avett Brothers, Wilco and the Pixies.
Joining those top names is a parade of nearly 50 more acts including Ryan Adams, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Social Distortion, Tame Impala, Old Crow Medicine Show, TV on the Radio and Atlanta’s Mastodon and Manchester Orchestra.
Shaky Knees’ new location is east of downtown at Central Park Place and Linden Avenue, five blocks east of the North Avenue MARTA station.
Advance three-day passes are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. General admission passes are $199 and VIP will sell for $499. Once the advance tickets are sold out, a three-day GA pass is $215 and VIP is $599.
Single-day general admission tickets for $99 and VIP for $225 will be available closer to the event.
All VIP tickets include special viewing areas, complimentary beer and water, catered lunch and light dinner fare, a cash liquor bar and private bathrooms.
Tickets to Shaky Knees can be purchased through all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com, www.shakykneesfestival.com and 1-800-745-3000.
Last week, Tim Sweetwood, the promoter of Shaky Knees, announced a new event to complement his indie rock fest — the country-focused Shaky Boots. That will take place May 16-17 in Kennesaw.
