Velvet Revolver entertains a surprisingly small crowd Wednesday night at the last concert of the season on the Southside.

Scott Weiland, born Scott Richard Kline on Oct. 27, 1967, in Santa Cruz, Calif., is married to model Mary Forsberg. They have two young children, Noah and Lucy.

Velvet Revolver performed at Live 8, playing 'Do It For the Kids,' 'Fall to Pieces,' and 'Slither.' However, only 'Fall To Pieces' appears on the Live 8 DVD.

Bassist Duff McKagan was also in Guns 'N Roses.

Scott Weiland has bipolar disorder. In an interview with VH1.com, he said that he does not take medication for the disorder, and so he goes through manic and depressive episodes.

Heavy metal purveyors Alice in Chains formed in the late 1980s in Seattle. The name derived from one of Layne Staley's former bands, Alice N' Chainz. According to Staley, the deceased vocalist, Alice N' Chainz would dress in drag at concerts, and he noted that he felt the name would fit a band that 'dressed in drag and played speed metal.'

Atlanta native William DuVall, formerly the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter with Comes the Fall, Neon Christ, Madfly and the Michael Tolcher Band, has taken over the Alice in Chains lead vocals for the late founder of the group, Layne Staley.

Sparta is a post-hardcore band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2001. Jim Ward (vocalist/guitarist) and Tony Hajjar (drummer) were former members of At the Drive-In. Keeley Davis (guitarist) is the former frontman of Engine Down.
