Rapper and actor Tupac Shakur was killed on Sept. 7, 1996 after watching a boxing match in Las Vegas. Shakur would have turned 40 years old on June 16, 2011. The day began with controversy as news broke that New York City police opened an investigation into an online posting supposedly from a convicted felon who claims to have shot and robbed Shakur previous to his murder in 1996.
