Students get music industry education

Several hundred students from metro high schools got to learn more about the music industry as part of Grammy Career Day at the Clayton Performing Arts Center.

Several hundred students from metro high schools got to learn more about the music industry Wednesday at Grammy Career Day at the Clayton Performing Arts Center. Trebony Dillard of North Clayton High School listens during the vocals workshop.

Students attended workshops on the business of music, the evolution of a song and one on vocals, where professionals talked about their careers.

Songwriter-producer Sean Garrett answers questions during the evolution of song workshop. Garrett has experience working with Grammy-winning artists. The list includes Usher, Lil Jon, Ludacris, Nelly, Beyonce, Janet Jackson and Gwen Stefani.

Atlanta resident and soul singer Angie Stone performs. The event was sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of The Recording Academy in partnership with the GRAMMY Foundation.
