Rod Stewart joins a growing list of rock stars playing the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, which is also the new outdoor home to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

At home in the United Kingdom, Rod Stewart has had six consecutive No. 1 albums and his tally of 62 hit singles include 24 that reached the top 10, six of which gained the No. 1 position.

The 63-year-old Stewart married model Penny Lancaster in June 2007, with whom he has a son, his seventh child. It was his third marriage.

As a young man, Rod Stewart played for soccer clubs and worked briefly as a grave digger.

His hit singles include "Maggie May," "You Wear It Well," "Hot Legs," "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?," and a version of Bob Dylan's "Forever Young."

It has been estimated that Rod Stewart's album and single sales total more than 250 million.

Singer-songwriter Josh Kelley opened the show. He is married to actress Katherine Heigl of 'Grey's Anatomy.'
