New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2009

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival got under way this weekend with performers such as Erykah Badu, Joe Cocker, James Taylor, the Anointed Jackson Sisters, Irma Thomas and Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk Band.

Erykah Badu performs at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on Saturday, April 25, 2009. The festival features hundreds of acts on 12 stages this weekend and next. The festival continued Sunday and picks up again on Thursday.

The Anointed Jackson Sisters perform in the Gospel Tent. Among this year's headline acts are Bon Jovi, Neil Young, Kings of Leon and Atlanta's own award-winning country duo Sugarland.

Representing the famous New Orleans Neville family is Ian Neville, left, son of Art Neville, performing with Tony Hall, right, as part of Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk Band.

Ivan Neville, namesake of Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk Band, is Aaron Neville's son.

A member of the Golden Blad Mardi Gras Indian band performs at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

Among the family connections onstage were Tao Rodriguez Seeger and his grandfather, folk music legend Pete Seeger.

Crowds enjoy the sun and music at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

Among the musicians representing the younger generation was Wilco.

Holding up the traditional side was a festival fixure, clarinetist Pete Fountain.

Fans enjoy the Imagination Movers. The Imagination Movers, a children's band with a television show on the Disney Channel by the same name, had parents and their little ones dancing.
