Montreux Jazz Festival 1

The Montreux Jazz Festival got under way trip night with a barbecue and boat ride at Stone Mountain Park. It continued Saturday at Underground Atlanta.

Ledisi performs at the weekend event. Rhonda Sudler of Atlanta said the day was a great way to spend Labor Day weekend. The event runs through Monday. "It's good family entertainment," she said.

Big Robert T entertains the Underground Atlanta crowd Saturday. Music was the obvious star of the 2007 Montreux Jazz Festival amid the vendors, kids inflatables and food hawkers. And music fans from all over rocked and swayed to the sounds of a parade of artists.

Festival manager Alonzo Craig said he was pleased with the turnout in the festival's second day.

The four-day event, a spin-off of the world-famous jazz festival held annually in Montreux, Switzerland, returned this weekend for a second year after going on hiatus.

When Atlanta crooner Patrick "Sleepy" Brown -- best known for producing and singing falsetto hooks on OutKast hits -- cranked up the tune "The Way You Move," the group was out of their seats.

Recording artist Lola provides the entertainment on the inaugural and sold-out Blues, Bourbon & Barbeque Boat Ride at Stone Mountain Park Friday night to kick off the 2007 Montreux Jazz Festival.

A crowd of several hundred wait to board the Henry Grady river boat Friday night.

The three-hour excursion featured a BBQ buffet, mint juleps, music and dancing as the boat circled Stone Mountain Park.
