Earlier this year, the Atlanta-based hard rockers earned their first-ever career Grammy nomination (they lost to Swedish band Ghost in the best metal performance category). Old Crow Medicine Show
As the story goes, the sextet caught the attention of folk hero Doc Watson while playing in front of a pharmacy in Boone, N.C., more than 15 years ago. Watson invited the alt-country-blues-folkies to play his MerleFest, which launched the band into a high-profile career, including entertaining at the Grand Ole Opry. Now, they are members of that famed institution and have a pair of Grammy Awards on their resume.

Beyonce
Will Beyonce serve up a lot of “Lemonade” on the third stop of her Formation tour this weekend? Considering her tendency to stomp forward rather than revel in the past, chances are fans will hear plenty of new material from her just-released sixth studio album. Rehearsals have been underway at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium — site of the second date on April 29 — and onlookers have commented that the production is even more massive than the usual stadium setup.

Paul Simon
The elegant songwriter will release his 13th album, “Stranger to Stranger,” June 3. It’s his first since 2011. Atlanta is the first date of a two-month tour following Simon’s appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. He’ll wrap the outing June 30 at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Forest Hills, N.Y., marking his first performance there since the 1970 Simon & Garfunkel hometown show to support “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Simon last visited Atlanta in 2013 for special performances at Emory University and last played here publicly in 2011.

Mother’s Finest
The original funk masters have a new album, “Goody 2 Shoes & the Filthy Beast,” so expect to hear some spiky jams during these two shows. It’s the Atlanta band’s first new material since 2003, and powerhouse singer Joyce Kennedy is still at the helm. Mother’s Finest was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2011, and, as anyone who has seen them live knows, it’s an experience not to be missed.
