FRIDAY

Journey and the Steve Miller Band

Both bands rocked Atlanta hard last year: Steve Miller during a post-Braves game concert and Journey at Music Midtown, where 40,000 music fans of several generations sang along heartily to "Separate Ways" and "Don't Stop Believin'." Last weekend, video surfaced of original Journey frontman Steve Perry joining indie rockers the Eels on stage for his first performance in nearly 20 years. While rumors continue to churn that he'll rejoin Journey for a reunion, for now fans can enjoy the vocal similarities of Arnel Pineda and the appearance of original guitarist Neal Schon and longtime keyboardist Jonathan Cain.

With Tower of Power. 6:45 p.m. May 30. $36-$155. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, www.livenation.com.

Manchester Orchestra

In April, the Atlanta-based indie rockers released their fourth album, "Cope." The week of release, they performed on "Late Night With David Letterman" and also engaged in an interactive show at Gallery L1 in Old Fourth Ward that allowed fans to use the music of "Cope" to visualize their emotions and moods. This homecoming show at the Tabernacle is expected to be more straightforward, with songs from their first three albums peppering a set list that also has included "Top Notch" and "The Ocean" as well as the title track of the new release.

With Balance and Composure and Kevin Devine. 8 p.m. May 30. $21. The Tabernacle, 152 Luckie St., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, www.livenation.com.

Candler Park Music and Food Festival

The two-day event — formerly the Midsummer Music and Food Festival — kicks off Friday with Atlanta folk-rocker Wesley Cook taking the stage at 4 p.m., followed by another local-based outfit, Moontower (7 p.m.), and Southern roots rockers the Sundogs (9 p.m.). The fest continues at 12:30 p.m. Saturday with jam band Webster launching the festivities. The rest of the Saturday lineup is Secondhand Swagger (1:30 p.m.), Family & Friends (2:50 p.m.), the Howling Tongues (4:15 p.m.), Lucero (5:45 p.m.), Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls (7:30 p.m.) and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue (9:15 p.m.).

SATURDAY

Fish Fest 2014 with Third Day

Christian radio station 104.7 The Fish has tapped popular Atlanta-based Christian rockers Third Day to headline a night of inspirational songs that also includes powerhouse Atlanta singer Jamie Grace, pop-rockers Royal Taylor and Peter Furler, former lead singer of Australian Christian band the Newsboys, who has been on a solo path since 2009. Third Day has been on the road for more than a year, touring behind 2012’s “Miracle” album.

With Jamie Grace, Royal Tailor and Peter Furler. 7 p.m. May 31. Sold out. The Arena at Gwinnett Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth. 1-888-929-7849, www.gwinnettcenter.com.

Collective Soul

The show is a benefit for several charities, including the Sarah Jones Scholarship Fund, named for the young camera assistant killed earlier this year while working on the Gregg Allman biopic, "Midnight Rider." Collective Soul frontman Ed Roland said he hadn't heard about Jones' death when a friend called to ask if the band would participate, but he was quick to agree. "It's extremely sad. But this is our community and we try to do (things like this) as often as we can," Roland said in a recent interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We're just trying to make a bad situation a little better, and with the scholarship, it keeps the memories (of Sarah) going." Roland said that while the purpose of the concert will be at the forefront, he nonetheless wants fans to have a "fun, joyous night," and might sneak some new Collective Soul songs from their upcoming 20th anniversary album into the set.

With Shane Dwight. 7 p.m. May 31. $20-$125. Southern Ground Amphitheatre, 301 LaFayette Ave., Fayetteville. 770-719-4173, www.thriveentertainment.org.

TUESDAY

Jack Johnson

Johnson is on a busy stretch of tour that will include 40 shows in the U.S. and Europe this summer and fall. He’s still touring behind “From Here to Now to You” — he debuted some of those songs at his show at the Fox Theatre in October — but says he might slow down touring in the future since his kids are getting old enough to want to spend time with their friends rather than being stuck on the road with their family.

With Amos Lee. 7:30 p.m. June 3. $34.50-$64.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com.

WEDNESDAY

Morrissey

Maybe the fourth time will be the charm. Morrissey is back, after an axed 2013 tour caused by a series of health problems that included a bleeding ulcer. He was originally slated to play Atlanta in December 2012, then January and March 2013 before the tour was completely scrapped. But by all accounts, Mozza, who released a lauded autobiography last year, has been holding strong on tour. Shows have included some Smiths songs ("Meat Is Murder," "Hand in Glove") along with the comprehensively titled "Everyday Is Like Sunday," "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris" and "World Peace is None of Your Business."

With Kristeen Young. 8 p.m. June 4. $33-$53. Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com.
