FRIDAY
Colbie Caillat
The sun-kissed tunes from Cali girl Caillat have been a staple on Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs chart for eight years, as she continues to rack up a string of breezy hits such as “Bubbly,” “Fallin’ for You,” “Brighter Than the Sun” and her latest efforts in sonic endearment, “Try” and “Just Like That.” Caillat is an appealing draw on her own, but she wins the perfect timing award for enlisting “Fight Song” singer Rachel Platten at the peak of her long-deserved popularity.
With Rachel Platten. 8 p.m. Aug. 7. Sold out. Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 1-877-725-8849, ticketalternative.com.
My Morning Jacket
One thing fans can count on if they’re attending both nights of MMJ’s performances at the Fox is that the band never puts on the same show twice. A recent stop in Miami found the indie-roots-psychedelic rockers seguing from “In Its Infancy (the Waterfall),” a track on the new album, “The Waterfall,” to 2008’s “I’m Amazed.” Expect funky lighting, garish attire from frontman Jim Jones and plenty of hazy jams.
With Mini Mansions. 8 p.m. Aug. 7-8. $32-$52 (Aug. 8 is sold out). Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St. N.E., Atlanta. 1-855-285-8499, foxtheatre.org.
SATURDAY
Flashback Festival
The annual throwback concert sponsored by Kiss 104.1 is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a groove-infused lineup. Chaka Kahn headlines the night, but prior to Ms. “I Feel for You” taking the stage, fans can jam to the snappy drumming of the ageless Sheila E. (who’ll also hold a book signing at noon Aug. 8 at the Barnes & Noble in Edgewood) and sing along to hits from the S.O.S. Band and Slick Rick.
6 p.m. Aug. 8. $25-$70. Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, livenation.com.
The Wrecking Ball
Despite the uncertainty about its future, the Masquerade is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a two-day concert blowout Aug. 8-9 that represents the club's rock, punk and emo roots. The Wrecking Ball 2015 will include 60 bands on four stages — Heaven, Hell, Purgatory and the Masquerade Music Park — with a lineup that includes Coheed and Cambria, Descendents, Thrice, Glassjaw, the Get Up Kids, Desparecidos, American Nightmare and the Lawrence Arms.
2 p.m. Aug. 8 and 1 p.m. Aug. 9. $65 per day (general admission) or a two-day pass (general admission) is $110; two-day VIP is $199. The Masquerade, 695 North Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.
SUNDAY
Steely Dan with Elvis Costello & the Imposters
Steely Dan’s Rockabye Gollie Angel Tour, launched in April, included a couple of weekends at Coachella, where they ably schooled the youngsters in attendance on timeless music. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker are joined onstage by an eight-piece band that brings their silky, snaking jazz-pop to life with airtight precision. Joining the eclectic Steely crew: Elvis Costello & the Imposters, who share the tour through Aug. 12.
7 p.m. Aug. 9. $45-$125. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive N.W., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.
WEDNESDAY
Culture Club
Last year, the band announced a reunion tour — and then canceled when it was determined that Boy George had a polyp on his vocal cords. The original lineup responsible for such MTV-era gems as "Karma Chameleon," "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" — George, bassist Mikey Craig, guitarist Roy Hay and drummer Jon Moss — recorded their first new album in 15 years, "Tribes," with help from crowdfunding site Pledge Music. The album will arrive in early 2016 and is available for pre-order at pledgemusic.com.
8 p.m. Aug. 12. $64.60-$116.40. Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St. N.E., Atlanta. 1-855-285-8499, foxtheatre.org.
