Born in New Zealand, Keith Urban learned to play guitar as a six-year-old in Australia, after a young woman asked to place an ad in his dad's shop window offering guitar lessons.

His parents made a deal with her that they would advertise in return for lessons for their young son. The boy had natural ability.

He has charted more than fifteen singles on the U.S. country charts, including ten Number Ones. Urban plays acoustic and electric guitar, as well as ganjo, bass guitar, mandolin, piano, and bouzouki.

Taylor Swift became one of country-pop's brightest (and youngest) faces in 2006, when the 16-year-old vocalist released her first album.

Although new to the American public, Swift had been performing since early childhood, taking inspiration and encouragement from her opera-singing grandmother.

She sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" before a Philadelphia 76ers game at the age of 11; the following year, she began practicing her guitar skills for several hours each day, only stopping when her fingers began to bleed.

In mid-January 2009, Swift became the first country artist to top the 2 million mark in paid downloads with three different songs.
