Indigo Girl helps prison choir make CD

Thanks to Indigo Girl Emily Saliers, the women inmates of the maximum security Metro State Prison in Georgia are sharing their musical freedom on a new CD, "Voices of Hope."

The Metro State Prison Woman's Choir released their CD at a ceremony and reception at the prison today. Sally Windhorn, member of the "Voices of Hope" choir, sings the National Anthem.

The full Woman's choir is on the risers, listening to one of their members sing the national anthem.

Emily Saliers, of the Indigo Girls, right, and Renee Snead, currently a student at Emory and a former prisoner and member of the choir, sing some musical selections. Choir director Susan Bishop enlisted the help of Emily Saliers who sings on the CD. Bishop says of the choir, which she has directed for years, that the arts have a freeing effect on people.

The full Metro State Prison Woman's Choir sings "Omnipotent".

Women inmates cheer the Woman's choir. There were also speeches and presentations at the event.

The "Voices of Hope" choir performed several numbers.
