The CounterPoint Music and Arts Festival returned in a big way in 2014 with a move to Kingston Downs and a lineup that included the Georgia return of Outkast.
This year’s festival will remain at the 5,000-acre site about an hour from Atlanta and spotlight a lineup that overlaps jam rock, EDM, hip-hop and funk.
Widespread Panic, Zedd, the Roots, Kygo, Knife Party, Umphrey’s McGee and Dillon Francis lead the list for the event, which takes place May 22-24.
Other acts that will perform on the four stages spread around the site are Zeds Dead, RL Grime, Lettuce, Tipper, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and Rebelution.
In addition, the “Silent Disco” will beckon EDM fans.
New to the festival this year is access to “The Midway,” an area featuring carnival rides, a game center, arts village, free water, a covered dining area and the Midway Stage, which will offer morning yoga workouts and workshops throughout the day.
General admission three-day passes, along with camping, parking and shuttle options, are available now at www.counterpointfestival.com for an advance price of $175, which will increase to $195 once the advance allotment is sold out.
VIP and Platinum passes are also available, as well as “glamping” and hotel packages. Prices start at $375.
For those who prefer not to camp or don’t want to drive, shuttles (for a fee) will depart daily from the Civic Center MARTA station.
CounterPoint is an 18-and-older festival.

In other music festival news, the first one of the season, SweetWater 420, has added the Wailers, AER, Big Data, the Floozies, Anders Osborne, the Revivalists, Delta Rae, the Wood Brothers, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Marc Broussard, the London Souls and Red Wanting Blue to its lineup.
Comedian Rory Scovel will perform each night in the comedy tent, and the “Not So Silent Disco” will feature Black Tiger Sex Machine, David Heartbreak, Anna Lunoe and Plastic Plates, among others.
Last month, festival organizers announced the first round of performers for the April 17-19 event at Centennial Olympic Park, including Snoop Dogg, 311, Thievery Corporation, Primus, Cage the Elephant, Slightly Stoopid, Moe., Gov't Mule and Beats Antique.
Tickets for the 11th Annual SweetWater 420 Festival are on sale now for $55 (limited number of three-day general admission passes) and $225 (three-day “Big Fish” VIP passes). Those prices increase to $75 and $265 closer to the festival date.
All patrons 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult 25 or older. Children under 10 are free with a ticketed adult.
