Atlanta Jazz Festival preview party

The 34th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival held a music-filled preview party Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Loews Atlanta Hotel. The free festival will take place May 28-30 at Piedmont Park.

Atlanta Parks and Recreation Commissioner George Dusenbury and Mayor Reed pose with Nichole Ferguson, owner of Glamour Paws, one of the Atlanta Jazz Festival sponsors. Ferguson is holding Princess. Although festival representatives say they love dogs, they will not be permitted into Piedmont Park over the Memorial Day weekend events as a courtesy to those enjoying the free concerts and activities.

LiveNation is one of the festival's sponsors and contributes services including the May 30 concert at Chastain Park Amphitheatre featuring Jazz legends George Duke, Marcus Miller, David Sanborn and Trombone Shorty.

Former Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell was in attendance Thursday evening.

Guests received AJF gift bags laden with goodies as they left the preview party.
