Art of Love tour at the Tabernacle

Raheem Devaughn, Chrisette Michelle perform sold-out show

Raheem Devaughn and Chrisette Michele brought The Art of Love Tour to the sold-out Tabernacle Friday night.

Devaughn, who was raised in Washington, D.C., by a musical family, recalled on his web site, "I can remember at a very young age, standing in my mother's living room, listening to music and saying to myself, 'I'm going to be an entertainer.' It was that simple for me. I think I just always knew."

Devaughn received a Grammy Award nomination for his single "Woman," and when his CD "Love Behind the Melody" was released in January, it debuted at No. 5 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart.

According to Chrisette Michell's web site, her debut album "I Am" is an artistic exploration that fuses Chrisette's diverse musical interest into a wonderland.

Chrisette Michelle has a realistic grasp on how hard she'll need to work to succeed. "I realize that I'm new to the music world, but I've been preparing for this moment for long time," she says on her web site.

According to the singer's web site, she majored in music at 5 Towns College in Long Island, N.Y. Chrisette cites the nurturing sway of her teachers for where she is today. "Although I did have talent, often that is not enough," she says. "My professors taught me how to a professional and to be serious about my music. They taught me how to put the music that I dream about at night on paper in the morning."

The sold-out show at the Tabernacle was introduced by Algebra.
