Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks led off the festivities Thursday night as some of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's most treasured musical acts gathered to perform for a 25th-year anniversary celebration at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Jerry Lee Lewis led off Thursday's show with his signature piano- furried "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On."

Stevie Wonder, who paid tribute to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson with a heartfelt rendition of "The Way You Make Me Feel," shares a song with 2003 Hall inductee (The Police) Sting.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band shared the stage with John Fogerty (left) for their first song "Fortunate Son," a Creedence Clearwater Revival song. Fogerty and Springsteen also sang a duet of Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman."

Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon drew one of the night's longest ovations with a poignant rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

Little Anthony and the Imperials, a 1950s R&B group inducted into the Hall in April, performs with Paul Simon.

Stephen Stills, (from left), Graham Nash, and David Crosby of Crosby, Stills, and Nash harmonized some old favorites and brought in Jackson Browne, James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt for a few melodies.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band dominated most of the six-hour show with a two-hour set, which included some gospel and a piano-laced rendition of "Born to Run" with Billy Joel. The show will be edited into an HBO special to be aired on Nov. 29.
