While the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour concert and Dungeon Family Reunion at One MusicFest meant the city was in full throwback mode last weekend, this upcoming weekend is all about celebrating the current pop music landscape.

If you’re not looking to brave the heat in the name of music, participate in Midtown Restaurant Week or watch a play at Georgia Tech’s student-run theater instead.

Music Midtown

Twenty One Pilots, The Killers, Beck, Leon Bridges, James Bay, DNCE and Raury are among this year's Music Midtown lineup. The popular two-day festival takes place in Piedmont Park, giving attendees a great view of the city as they listen to their favorite artists and discover new acts.

If you’re a music fan and a metro Atlanta resident, this is definitely how you should spend your weekend.

Sandy Springs Festival

About 30,000 people are expected to attend the 31st annual Sandy Springs Festival this weekend.

Qualify for the AJC Peachtree Road Race, listen to live music or visit the booths of more than 600 artists and vendors at this community festival.

Midtown Restaurant Week

Discover a new restaurant or revisit your old favorite during Midtown Restaurant Week. The restaurant week kicked off on Sept. 10 and goes through Sept. 18, offering prix-fixe menus at $15, $25 and $35.

Participating restaurants include Stk, City Winery, Saltwood and more.

Theater at Georgia Tech: “The Wholehearted

World champion boxer Dee Crosby tells her story after being shot and stabbed by her husband/trainer. The production opens at Georgia Tech this Thursday and runs through Saturday. Each night will feature a post-show talk about women in sports, LGBT issues and domestic violence, respectively.

The Politics of the U.S. Presidential Electoral College

During this free and timely panel at the Atlanta University Center, speakers will discuss the history of the Electoral College.

The panel is in support of another free exhibit, “Start Something: Activism and the Atlanta Student Movement” about how local students aided in the civil rights movement.
