Woody Allen shows off 'Whatever Works'

After a long time away, Woody Allen returns to New York in his film "Whatever Works," starring Evan Rachel Wood and Larry David. The director and cast premiered the film at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Larry David plays the cranky New York elder in the May-December romance. Type casting, perhaps?

Evan Rachel Wood gives a twirl to highlight the full skirt of her black sleeveless dress. She stars opposite David as the chirpy young woman he takes under his wing.

The romantic comedy premiered at the Ziegfield in New York City.

Allen and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, still have the ick factor after all these years. For those who don't recall, Allen had an affair with Soon-Yi, the adopted daughter of then-lover Mia Farrow.

This was the second straight film in which Allen had cast Patricia Clarkson, who plays Wood's disapproving mother. She previously appeared in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

Henry Cavill, who has gained fame on the Showtime series "The Tudors," stars in the film.

Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Robert De Niro and his wife, Grace Hightower, came to see what Allen would do on screen after returning to New York.

Was Allen sucking up to film festival jury member Uma Thurman? Only they know for sure.

Mary-Kate Olsen, who is a member of the film festival jury, bundled up with a long brown suede coat. It's hard to stay warm when you're that thin.
