"Penelope" movie hogs attention at Hollywood premiere

Movie premiere with Reese Witherspoon and James McAvoy, and Christina Ricci in the title role.

Hot on the heels of "Enchanted" comes yet another urban fairy tale: "Penelope," starring James McAvoy, Reese Witherspoon and Christina Ricci, about a kind-hearted heiress who must break free of her sheltered life and break a spell in the process.It opens Feb. 29.

Ricci is Penelope, a girl who's cursed (literally, as in, by a witch) to have a piglike snout till she finds true love. But the snout turns off her suitors. In case you were wondering, it has nothing to do with the 1966 movie "Penelope" in which Natalie Wood plays a kleptomaniac bank robber.

Catherine O'Hara -- always playing memorable moms -- is the mother who locks poor Penelope away because of the curse. (Hey, Mom, we think pigs are cute!)

Reese Witherspoon plays Penelope's new friend in the film.

McAvoy and his wife, actress Anne-Marie Duff, arrive. McAvoy is Penelope's potential love interest, a gambler with ulterior motives.

Sissy Spacek (right) and her daughter, actress Schuyler Fisk, arrive.

It's not a premiere unless actress Amanda Bynes is there.

Rachael Taylor ("Transformers") walks the red carpet.

Leonor Varela (she played Cleopatra on TV and also appeared in "The Man in the Iron Mask") arrives.
