LESLIE HOWARD IN "Gone With the Wind": Despite hating the role, the English actor nailed the wimpy aristocrat Ashley Wilkes pretty well. The only problem is, the story takes place in the American South, not the English countryside, from what we've read.

KYRA SEDGWICK in "The Closer": Great show. Great actress. Awful voice. Kyra, are you putting us on with that drawl? It's loonier than Foghorn Leghorn's. Remember girl, you work for TNT, not the Cartoon Network!

TOM HANKS in "The Ladykillers": It's a Coen Brothers movie, so we expect things over-the-top. But his deep-fried Col. Sanders sound was like a bucket of lumpy gravy. Maybe he took tips from Kevin Spacey.

NICOLAS CAGE in "Con Air": We recommend that if you ever have to watch this film, turn the sound off and enjoy the pretty explosions. It's true that Cage's accent is horribly bad, but what really grates is that he doesn't even seem to be trying. We're worth the effort, dagnabbit!

CLARK GABLE finally fell back on his Ohio accent during filming of 'Gone with the Wind.' Maconite Susan Myrick long remembered that she failed as a dialog coach to get him to put a proper drawl on "Florida." On the other hand, VIVIAN LEIGH, like many British actors, seemed quite comfortable speaking Southern.

KEVIN COSTNER in "JFK": Mauling a British accent in "Robin Hood" wasn't enough. Costner had to drag the New Orleans dialect of Jim Garrison into the Mississippi mud as well. We detect a conspiracy.
